One of the challenges faced by native Africa has been its lack of friends within the global progressive movements and thinking, over the last fifty or so years.

Global movement against colonialism and the European imperial order were normally rooted in the left-leaning thinking that also oppressed the ideas of monarchy and other forms of hereditary rule in which of course the European imperial order was founded.

Not all monarchy is automatically feudal, and not all feudalism historically required a monarchy within which to function. As a result, they preferred to make alliances with any African espousing their modern ideas of socialism and communism rather than listen to the authentic voices of native Africa. This led to the rise of a lot of post-colonial political charlatans in Africa, and another half-decade of suppression of the African voice in the name of socialist revolutions.

Tying all native rule to the idea of European-type monarchies has allowed for many misrepresentations about what natives –especially African ones- are, and what they want
